Warmaster
History

Eligibility: Open to monsters (not restricted by unit or specific race)
Established: 2011
Founder: Soo Ma Tai, after squiring to Sir Cedric of the Highlands of Chaos
Warmaster is a peerage title created in 2011 when Soo Ma Tai, following the completion of a traditional squireship under Sir Cedric, chose to walk a new path. Rather than pursuing knighthood, he established a distinct role designed to honor and uplift the unique contributions of monster players within the foam fighting community.
The Warmaster title is notable for being the first formalized peerage open exclusively to monsters, regardless of their unit affiliation or specific monstrous race. It serves as both a recognition of excellence and a call to purpose.
Philosophy and Focus
While each Warmaster may interpret the role differently, several common themes are widely recognized within the path:
- Spirituality: Many Warmasters express a strong connection to the symbolic, mythic, or cultural roots of their monstrous identity.
- Lore and Storytelling: The preservation and creation of narrative is central to the role. Warmasters often act as keepers of oral tradition and, in-character history.
- Teaching and Mentorship: A core pillar of the Warmaster ideal is the dedication to educating others—be it through combat skills, lore, philosophy, or cultural engagement. Warmasters are expected to lead by example and foster growth in those around them.
Cultural Role
The Warmaster is not merely a warrior, but a guide, historian, and builder of community. The title continues to evolve as new Warmasters bring their own voice to the mantle, forging diverse legacies tied by shared values of strength, wisdom, and uplifting.
Symbols
Warmasters are often identified by a set of visual symbols that usually reflect the core aspects of their path. While individual interpretations vary, three elements are consistently present in Warmaster iconography:
- A Skull
- A Weapon
- Wings
These three elements—skull, weapon, and wings—are the most recognizable components of the Warmaster symbol and can be found on garb, shields, banners, or personal symbols.
In terms of regalia, while some Warmasters wear chains, the most common adornment is a beaded necklace crafted in their personal or symbolic colors. These beads often carry significance to the wearer and are a distinct marker of the title. This tradition started in 2017. Warmaster Kord was the last person to receive a chain alone for his ceremony
