"Plotting in a Blizzard"

Chapter 2

Now that Sir Skald had laid claim to the throne, the emissaries for both Sir Rem and Sir Skald had discussed extensively with the goals for both lords to met in the realm of Ebonhold, during the yearly Thaw Brawl to make terms for Chaos Wars.

The lands of Ebonhold had been touched by the whims of frost and snow and both parties made their way to a historical clearing by a winding and wide river where blood has been spilled for generations in the name of the Gorlock, to satiate the monsters undying thirst in hopes for a fruitful spring,

The cold winds whipped hard with a flurry of pelting ice, while foggy clouds rolled low over the nearby hills down into the valley. All hands were called to erect the pavillions so all could take shelter from the elements and with the speed of men and women whose teeth chattered, Sir Rem's and Sir Skald's retenue took shelter and covered themselves in thick blankets. It was not soon after both parties settled that libations and spirits to keep the bodies warm and humor merry were passed around freely. Chattering teeth quickly turned to laughter.

Once cups were emptied twice round, both Lords asked for silence in the room so negotiations could start. Sir Rem called upon his Squire Koda to discuss an urgent matter regarding honor. Squire Koda took offense to Squire Kaspians insulations to Sir Rems honor and claim and demanded justice. Squire Kaspian, a ward to Sir Skald and adamant defender of his lord fought back stating that his words were merely tools the educate the uninformed, but no harm was meant. The merry mood once lifting the spirits of the pavillion now weighed heavy with the prospects of a dual of honor. Upon hearing both squires positions, Sir Rem and Sir Skald jointly found no need for blood to be shed by their retenue, a larger threat was looming. The duel would have to wait as Sir Skald shared with all that there have been rumblings of the monster hordes in the highlands of Chaos have begun to stir.

Sir Rem and Sir Skald upon intense discussions of their upcoming battle at Chaos Wars and the loom threat of a monster horde both agreed that each will set aside their own squabble to fight back against the horde, which posed a larger threat to the shaky foundations of Order in the Highlands. There, under the pressing winds and relentless snow, both lords declared the rallying cry of those fighting the hordes of Chaos, "Order Above All."

After two days of discussions, drinking and negotiating, both Sir Rem and Sir Skald plus their retenue returned back to their respective lands, both making ready to meet on the Tri-Bridge at Chaos Wars.
