"The Peerage Council"

The Peerage Council was created in 2016 at the Western event Chaos Wars by Sir Rem DeLavan. The need to create a Peerage Council stemmed from the belief that Peers of all walks and backgrounds, should come together in a physical space to discuss important topics impacting the community. At the time before the Peerage Council, there was no formal gathering of Peers aside from Peerage Orders or Peer groups. The first discussion, hosted by Sir Rem was on the topic of how Knights and Knighthood are viewed negatively in the community and how we as a community of peers aim to rectify that perception.

"The Format of the Council"

It is important to understand that despite it having the name Peerage Council, this meeting was and still is meant to be inclusive to Peers and Non-Peers alike. All attendees are encouraged to participate and join in on the discussion.

The Council meeting itself is formatted to be only one hour long. This time constraint is to encourage quick and effective discussion within a reasonable time and for its participants to stay engaged.

The meeting should always have a host to introduce the Council, and its purpose, host topics, guide conversations, and monitor time. The host is an active participant in the flow of conversations and should aim to keep things on topic.

Each topic is given a ten-minute discussion time after the topic is presented. The host is expected to wrap up the discussion right before the time expires. There are no restrictions on the types of topics an individual can propose. The space is meant to inform, illuminate, discuss, brainstorm, and celebrate everything occurring in the community.

"Do you want to run a Peerage Council?"

Excellent! Anyone can run a Peerage Council. Collect topics from interested parties before the event and word with the event coordinators to find a timeslot and advertising for the Council.
