Healfdane, upon entering Khazad-Dum, collected a small group of goodly warriors together to combat the monsters and evil men plaguing Khazad-Dum. However, the forces of evil overwhelmed the small company. Two of his comrades, Brazwell and Belefeigr, were slain by the Horde and a wandering Red Cap goblin, respectively. Healfdane, enthralled with the fighting prowess of the Dark Guard, abandoned his good heart and embraced his inner darkness as he donned the Eye of Mordor and added his sword to the Dark Guard's deadly collective.
