Yatagarasu

Dreamt into existence by Featheredling, Yatagarasu (Eight-Span Crow) is a unit for those who like a shiny trinket every now and then, but most importantly like to help those around them. We welcome any and all those who are clad in feathers but fret not featherless friends for there is sure to be glue and feathers enough for all. Our main goal is to embody the ancient mythology of our Crow-God and provide guidance to any and all who may be lost and in need of direction. HOWEVER, it is of utmost importance that this be done all while having fun, being silly, and making the most of our Belegarth experience.

The Nest

Membership within Yatagarasu consists of four ranks following the growth of a bird.

The Hatchlings are those who have yet to open their eyes in our world. It is here where those who have expressed interest in membership with Yatagarasu will be able to feel things out and get a sense of the world they have come in to.

The Nestlings are those who have opened their eyes and have begun to grow their first few feathers. It is here where the Nestling will work with an established member on their path towards full membership and becoming a Fledgling. At this level, a Nestling’s voice may be heard regarding matters within the nest, however, a vote has not yet been earned. To advance, the Nestling will face a series of trials to address strengths and weaknesses. Following the completion of the trials, the Nestling’s membership will be decided by vote.

The Fledglings are those adorned with a juvenile coat of feathers, ready to try and take flight for the first time. Fledglings are those who have persevered and grown to overcome their trials as a Nestling. As established members of Yatagarasu, Fledglings earn the place to vote in all matters of the nest. At this stage, Fledglings are also allowed to take a Nestling under their wing and be their guide. In addition to fostering a Nestling, Fledglings may also choose a Corvid as their patron to guide them along the final path towards ascension.

The Corvidae are those who display remarkable growth, intelligence, and cunning. Having fully ascended, Corvidae become the wise council and leadership of the nest. With many of the same privileges as a Fledgling, Corvidae are allowed to take as many Fledglings under their wing as they feel comfortable and guide them towards their eventual ascension. As the nest’s leadership, Corvidae are responsible for the approval of any trials within the nest, as well as event organization and any other of the nest’s inner workings. Becoming Corvidae does not mark the end of one’s growth in the nest. Corvidae should strive to continue their growth, always seeking knowledge to share to those around them, and always looking for something of theirs to move upon. Ascending to Corvidae also comes with its own set of trials that the aspiring Fledgling must undertake. These trials will be decided upon by all current Corvidae, and will be more specifically tailored to challenge the Fledgling’s strengths and weaknesses, pushing them to their fullest.

The main purpose of the ranks is to signify the growth of each member within the unit as they continue on their path towards ascension. Lastly, as a general rule, not one rank is better than the rest. With that being said, all members are equally important and must treat one another with respect.
