Full of hippies and surfers.
California is the southernmost state of the West Coast of the continental United States. This state's motto is, "Eureka!" If I had to take a wild guess, I'd pin the invention of boogie board shields on them.
The Golden State has rich communities of monsters and has been home to several monster lore progenitors. The lores of Deep Ones, dryads, syrens, métamorphes, and wendigos have all had major developments or originated in California.
