The Story of Big-Bat’s Creation:

In November of 2024, Murtagh set out to create a ridiculous, monstrosity of a bat as a white-elephant gift. Using an entire role of blue foam on a solid fiberglass core, with a stab tip consisting of a layer of puzzle foam topped by two layers of blue foam, and a cover made of a pillowcase tightened with cloth tape, the entire weapon was only held together with carpet tape, duct tape, and prayers.

Murtagh would intend for this monstrous bat to end up in the hands of one of the more veteran members of Tir Asleen, being nothing more than a joke that would never see use on the field. Instead, it went to Myth. The large bat would become her first, and at the time, only weapon. Myth would eventually give her new weapon a name: "Big-Bat".

At either the first or second practice after receiving it is when Big-Bat would begin to fall apart. The stab tip would start to shift at the top of the cover. Eventually becoming completely detached, sliding around wildly with each swing.

Luckily, the winter break was only two weeks away, the perfect time to fix Big-Bat. It wouldn't be till after the break that many would discover the problem with leaving Myth unattended to fix the monstrous weapon, for she had never done any bat construction or repairs, something that seems to have held little concern for Myth.

Working in her parents garage, Myth would fix the stab tip, gluing it back on with a sizeable layer of DAP on each side, for she didn’t know how much was needed. After being left too dry for a day, she moved on to the next step. Hand-sewing purple cotton, a very nice cover was then created, as though it could make up for what was underneath.

It wasn’t until late December while fighting with Big-Bat once more that Myth would discover that the foam was secured to the core with nothing more than carpet tape. The bat was standing tip down on the floor, leading to Myth noticing that the cover near the handle was tented. Walking over, she grabbed the handle and pushed down, causing the three or so inches of core to side back into blade.

Once home again, Myth partially removed the cover and pulled the core free. It became evident that not only was the core completely detached, but the hole in the center of the tube was far too large. Cutting a thin strip of blue foam, Myth wedged it into the gap, pushing the strip in more with the core, until the strip ran the entire length. Now that the hole was smaller, Myth theorized that the foam would now be tight around the core. Pouring around 8 ounces of DAP straight down the middle of the tube with a funnel, Myth then had her brother spin the whole tube around to completely coat the walls while she coated the core in dap. She then stuck the core back into the tube, leaving the bat to stand tip down in the garage to dry. It would remain there for an unknown amount of time, seeing as Myth doesn't remember, but she does note that when she brought it back to her room after multiple days of drying, it made her entire room smell of DAP.

Big-Bat would be revealed to the world near the end of winter break, with Myth bringing it as her only weapon to her first proper event, Wreak the Halls: 2025. It was here that Big-Bat went through its first weapons check, where it dismayed the checkers, but ultimately passed and cleared for use on the field.

Myth has continued to fight with Big-Bat and bring it to every event she goes to; baffling weapons checkers each time. Myth lets others use Big-Bat from time to time, much to her own amusement as she gets to watch the chaos unleashed.

Additional Big-Bat Stories:

At the Tir Asleen Winter Invasion of 2025, Big-Bat would be wielded alongside its inspiration and predecessor, the "Meat Stick" owned by Mazog.  Myth proceeded to fight Florentine with the two large bats during the second game of the event. It was during this time that it would be discovered that Big-Bat was longer than the Meat Stick while also being lighter.

Big-Bat would be brought to classes one day as the topic of Myth's speech for her Intro to Public Speaking class, where a toast was given in honor of Big-Bat. After that class, Myth had to go straight to Ornithology class, once again bring Bat-Bat along for the ride. Only after that class had ended could Big-Bat be brought back to Myth’s dorm, running into a realm mate along the way. Ebson was flabbergasted to see Myth had actually gone through with her plan. While walking together, he would also witness Myth point the large bat at a passerby across the street while yelling “Don’t look at me like that!” That passerby was actually her sister’s roommate whom she had known since high school.

Baaa-dum baaa-dum

At Melcaorme 2025, Myth would fight with Big-Bat while wearing a shark blanket during Knights vs Knaves (I think that’s the name). Deciding that they were going to lose anyway, Myth decided to have some fun with it. Dawning her wearable shark blanket, Myth grabbed Big-Bat and headed towards her team. The blanket’s hood draped downwards over her face, limiting her field of vision to the area directly in front of her feet, which due to the shape of the tail, were effectively tied together as though it were a hobble skirt. This would shorten the length of her stride to a handful of inches, dramatically decreasing her speed to that of a rapid shuffle. Her arms where also limited, only really being able to move them below the elbow within the fins. Most rounds, Myth wouldn’t even make it to the fighting, the game ending before she could make it. But during one round, Myth would be the last member of her team left, with Kodite either being the only one left on the opposing team, or the only one still mobile. Either way, after killing her teammates, he had turned to start walking back to his line, when multiple people started to yell “No, you got to fight the shark!” He had already lost an arm, fighting with a shield and down flail before he engaged with Myth. Quickly taking one her legs, Kodite would attempt to kill her multiple times with each strike either being blocked by Big-Bat (which covered most of Myth’s body when she was legged) or only hitting garb as the blanket obscured where Myth actually was. It was only after 4-5 failed attempts, Kodite would eventually end the fight by pushing Myth over with his shield and killing her while she was down.
