[edit] Background

Gilead was a Realm in Peoria, Illinois. The realm featured a wide range of ages and skill levels in its fighting group. We gladly accepted new or experienced participants for fighting, learning, and merriment. We had no strict rules on garb, but we certainly encouraged every new fighter to acquire their own gear and outfit as soon as possible. This was mostly for future demonstrations and public relations events we would be participating in as a realm, but highly encouraged. Our fighters with extra weapons offered them as loaners until newer players learned how to make their own or where to get them. Training for fighters both new and old was always available from our veterans, and we did our best to offer tips to each other to build fighting prowess and confidence.

Although fighting was the major part of our conventions, other social gatherings include such merriment as barbecues, card-playing, festivals, and other various hobbies. In general, our members made all their own garb, armor, and weapons. Most were willing to teach and help out in these processes in anyway possible.
