== About Valhalla ==
Valhalla began as "PSU Medieval Combat Club", which was originally based upon Belegarth rulings. It's first marshall is said to have formed the club after a falling out with other local fighters (some of whom would go on to found the other Portland realm, [[Cronus]]), and for a time the club was not associated in any way with Cronus or Belegarth. Over time, several of the older and more experienced fighters left the club, leaving relatively new and inexperienced fighters at the helm of the organization. With most of the old guard gone, the club began a massive overhaul of rules, regulations, and weapons in late 2008 that continued well into 2009. In the summer of 2009, members of Cronus and Valhalla began communicating on friendly terms, finally unifying the Portland area realms.

Valhalla is one of two homes for slain warriors in Norse Mythology. It is said that half of all the warriors that fall in battle are taken by Odin to Valhalla, while the other half are taken by Freyja to Fólkvangr. Valhalla itself is described as an enormous hall in Asgard where fallen warriors feast, drink, and prepare to help Odin in the coming battle of Ragnarok. More a place of preparation and congregation than reward or rest, Valhalla differs from many other visions of the afterlife in that it serves only to hold the armies of the dead until the great cataclysm of Ragnarok takes place.

[edit] About Valhalla

Valhalla began as "PSU Medieval Combat Club", which was originally created in order to bring fighters of varying disciplines together to fight together and socialize. However, due to personality conflicts between varying members of the group, they dispersed. Over the next few years, leadership changed hands, and while the club had been using rules heavily based in Belegarth, it was not officially affiliated. In 2009, the club began work on beginning to affiliate itself officially with Belegarth, building connections with Cronus and Tir na nOg. Finally, in the summer of 2009, the club became officially affiliated with Belegarth, obtaining the realm name of Valhalla.

Being a student organization, Valhalla maintains a steady roster of PSU students, and due to the rules of the school organization, membership is restricted to PSU students, alumni, and staff. The club has a large armory of weapons (all of which are maintained by the club's armsmaster, Barl) that are available for everyone to use, though if fighters have personal weapons, they are encouraged to bring them.

[edit] History
