Malark Ashenstride was born in the Fifth Year of the Dragon to Chief Josuito of the now lost Scarbrow Tribe. The valley where the Scarbrows lived had been under the harsh rule of a cruel dragon for five years. The dragon demanded a troll sacrifice every few years, chosen from the best of the warriors of the tribe, to spare Scarbrow Valley from his wrath. As Malark grew, his parents were relieved that he wasn't particularly strong, and would probably not become a warrior, but a witch doctor. He was, however, smarter then the average troll and extremely fast.

Troll school in Scarbrow Valley is limited to speaking, hunting, and various physical training. Although he did not do well at most PT, Malark demonstrated a quick grasp on communication and a prodigal skill with a bow. This cemented his position as the Clan Shaman's new apprentice.

Malark entered into his Magick training and the time of the sacrifice drew near.  The dragon surveyed the warriors hunting and fighting, watching to see which one was the most tasty looking. While the Chief and his head-shaman were discussing which warrior would be chosen, the shaman had a vision of Malark clad all in white standing over the corpse of the dragon. The Chief was very pleased that his son was destined to do such a thing, and when he went up to the mountain to inquire what sacrifice the dragon wanted, he began boasting to the dragon of what his son would do. Trolls are not very bright. The dragon went into a rage and demanded Malark as his next sacrifice!

Fortunately for Malark, he was hunting nearby and overheard the conversation. And, not wanting to be eaten, he started running.

When he couldn't be found for the sacrifice, the dragon lost it's mind.  It started killing every living thing it saw and burning any plant that might provide cover.  The tribe of the Scarbrow Trolls was soon wiped out and the valley burned for six years. The dragon could not find Malark.

Then, six years later after no living thing existed in the valley, the dragon slumped to the ground... dead from exhaustion.  Something stirred in the ash near the dragon's corpse, and Malark emerged grinning.  Earlier in the Burning Time, Malark had used his limited Magickal Skill to turn his skin ash white so he could hide, coming out only when the dragon slept to hunt.  Malark cut out one of the dragon's bones and fashioned it into a spear. But now, seeing as the dragon had wiped out all life in the valley, he left.

Malark wandered until he found the expansive area of Stygia, complete with hunting grounds and a small pinkie settlement for trading. The territory was controlled by the Uruk-Hai and their masters, the White Skull. Malark joined a mercenary unit (headed by Valas Hune) upon his arrival, but the mercenaries were soon absorbed by the Uruk-Hai. After living in Stygia for awhile, Malark became impress by the power of the Uruk-Hai and enlisted in their ranks. Their blood-lust and might were an awesome sight, and he enjoyed touring with them.

+
During his time with the Uruk-Hai, Malark also founded a Gladiator School in the Hell's Gate Village. It was a great success and continues to produce skilled fighters to this day.

+
Malark soon became tired of the hierarchical structure of the Uruk-Hai and the brutality even amongst themselves. He dreamed of a Unit based on democratic principals and tribal unity, not fear and oppression.  Then, at Chaos Wars XII, he conspired with like-minded warriors and created the AU.

+
Malark currently fights in Stygia, lives with Maulthus, and continues to grow the revolutionary idea of the AU.
