Description:

Tieflings are creatures born of mortals with fiendish ancestry. Tiefling's ancestry often lies far up the family tree, often the result of a ancestral pact with a Fiendish entity. A tiefling is not be confused with a half-Fiend, which is genetically half mortal and half fiend due to procreation, due to the Abyssal nature of a tiefling's conception they are considered their own separate race closer to devils or demons rather than their mortal surrogate parents. Tieflings contain none of the blood of the mortal lineage it is born from, their appearance is based on the fiend involved in it's creation. Parents of tieflings often abandon or kill them at birth due to the shock of giving birth to a fiendish creature. Most tieflings never know their Fiendish sire until well into their adult lives. Since there are a limited number of Demons and Devils almost all tielfings have the possibilty of being related through their fiendish ancestry. With fiendish blood and traits to match, tieflings are often shunned and despised out of reactionary fear. Despite their Fiendish appearance and abyssal origins, tieflings have a Mortal's capacity of choosing their fate, and while many embrace their dark heritage and side with fiendish powers, others reject their darker predilections. Though the power of their blood calls nearly every tiefling to fury, destruction, and wrath, even the spawn of a succubus can become a saint and the grandchild of a pit fiend an unsuspecting hero. Tieflings cannot die by natural cause such as age, however this by no means makes them immortal creatures, they can still die from the same fatal wounds just like any mortal being.

Lore:

In ancient times when Demons and Devils sought to rule our world they called upon mortals to produce heirs. Through the use of dark magics they taught these mortals a ritual that would infuse one of their descendants with the blood of a Fiend. In time the mortals passed on never knowing what became of their creation, never knowing if they truely did create the fiend's heirs. Eventually after centuries the first Tielfing was born, he was almost instantly killed and the mother was burned at the stake for witchcraft. Realizing that their creations were not strong enough to truly rule in their place the fiends decided to abandon their heirs, and leave them to be shunned by both mortal and fiend alike. Many Centuries passed and over time a few hundred tieflings were born, few lived unto adulthood and most were killed at birth or in youth. While most mortals never wanted to know how these fiendish creatures came to be, some tieflings took it upon themselves to discover how they came to be. Due to the reveal of their abyssal origins mortals continued to hate and distrust tieflings even more than they already did, many of them killing innocent tieflings for fear that they may try to fulfill their ancient purpose. As a result of their slaughter tieflings are incredibly rare, and often go about hoping to be unnoticed.

Personality:

Most tieflings were aware from an early age that they were different from others around them, and were given to strange urges and desires because of their unusual ancestry. Few tieflings were raised with the love a normal human child might expect to receive and this shaped most of the race into bitter individuals who expected eventual rejection from all whom they meet. While some would follow this path towards evil, others rejected it wholeheartedly and sought to make a good impact on the world around them, sometimes becoming the most heroic characters of all. Few could maintain this discipline however, and most tieflings fell somewhere between both extremes.

Because tieflings were generally distrusted throughout the world, owing to their fiendish heritage, many were themselves distrusting and self-reliant. Tieflings were also proud and secretive by nature and possessed a dark demeanor. Unfortunately, this only helped to further the reputation tieflings had for being social outcasts and untrustworthy scoundrels. However, members of other races would find that once they demonstrated friendship and trust towards a tiefling, it would quickly be reciprocated in full. Once that bond was forged, it was rarely broken.

Anatomy

Though certain common characteristics recur in many tieflings, their overall appearance can vary greatly from individual to individual as most tieflings tend to resemble their Fiendish sire. All tieflings bare a set of horns resembling the ones bared by their sire. Tieflings are omnivores but prefer meats overall this is represented by their a fanged maw, and a set of long talon-like nails. All tieflings have a long prehensile tail which, like many other tailed creatures, can be used to determine their emotional state. Tiefling ears are naturally long and pointed, they have incredibly sensitive hearing able to hear speech from up to a mile away. Tieflings are born with naturally immunity to extreme heat, this is due to their fiendish traits coming from beings born in hellfire. Beyond their natural born features, body modification and war paint tends to be more common amongst tieflings than most other races. Consciously or otherwise, many tieflings, given that much of their body's appearance is out of their own control, decide to make up for it by taking control of some portion of their body with tattoos ritual scarring and body paints.

Tiefling trivia:

  • Tieflings only age from infancy to adulthood, once they reach adult hood at roughly age 15 their aging is slowed to the point of being practically immortal, only significantly aging every couple decades or centuries. Because no tieflings have ever lived and aged long enough to die naturally no one really knows if they even CAN die naturally. Unfortunately because of this it's statistically shown that every tiefling is tragically Killed eventually, usually through accident, natural disasters, combat, suicide or murder. Interestingly Unlike Half-Fiends Demons and Devils a Tiefling is a mortal creature and can therefore be resurrected as an undead like any other mortal creature.
  • Although it is common for tieflings to only have 2 horns it is not unheard of for tieflings to have entire crowns of horns.
  • Tieflings more often than not grow up to be hermits shunned or shunning society for their mistreatment in youth, because of this many tiefling's spare time is spend with their nose stuck in a book. as a result many are known to become masters of science, magic and alchemy.
  • Most, if not all tielfings are related through their fiendish ancestry. this is due to the fact that there are a limited number of Demons and Devils to create tielfings, and all demons and devils are related one way or another.
  • No 2 tieflings can come from the same mortal bloodline, since each bloodline can only make the deal once.
  • all Tieflings are virgin births, and are often abandoned or killed at birth due to their monstrous appearance.
  • Tieflings can't be set on fire, however their clothes still can. this often results in embarrassing moments when walking out of a burning building or climbing out of a volcano.
  • Tiefling horns are a hallucinogen. If a Tiefling's horn is ground into a fine powder and consumed with a meal or drink, it causes a mild high for up to 5 hours. Alternatively, if the powder is inhaled through the nostrils it can cause a euphoric and intense drug state lasting up to 24 hours.
  • Tieflings cannot procreate with other tieflings, however while they can procreate with other races their children do not take on their fiendish traits and instead take on the dominant traits of their non-tiefling parent.

Garb Requirements:
