The demise of Korbin the Mad's sanity meant more than the loss of a brother, but the beginning of something far greater. Every dying fire leaves an ember with the potential to manifest into a strong and destructive flame. That ember burned into the very will of the Æmber brothers. Old Æmber is a relatively small but tightly-knit brotherhood formed by Croc and Krit Æmber. The man that ultimately brought Æmber together, Korbin, believed they were all related in their madness; he professed that madness is a, "blessed disease, and that all the world must be infected to be righteous." Once Krit and Croc broke away from the madness of Dunamai, they gained back their sanity, wits, direction, and innate desire to hunt.
