Guild Vassal

What is an Vassal?

An Vassal has chosen to pursue mastery of a skill or area of service and has been approved by their mentor. This is a optional trial period similar to becoming a page or pledge for those curious about becoming full-fledged Guild Apprentices or those wishing to study under a current Guild Journeyman. Vassals must still apply to be a Guild Apprentice upon such time as their Journeyman mentor becomes a Guild Master and/or they wish to become a full-fledged Guild Apprentice. The Vassal position was created to provide Guild Journeymen with mentor-ship opportunities to increase their teaching skills and provide prospective Guild hopefuls with an opportunity to begin on their journey.

Becoming an Vassal

Those wishing to become a Guild Vassal may approach any Guild Mentor/Master or Guild Journeyman and request to become their Vassal. Journeymen must consult and acquire the approval of their mentor before taking on a Vassal. Upon taking a Vassal, please contact your guild chairperson and inform them so that proper records may be kept.

Vassal Garb

Any member who has been taken as a Vassal may wear a Vassal Belt Flag.

Vassal Belt Flag:

• Required: symbol of the guild the person is vassaling to.
• Suggested: the colors of the mentor.

This belt flag may continue to be used and modified as the student progresses through the ranks if desired.

Vassal Requirements

Requirements for both guilds for Vassals are much the same. They are listed separately here for future clarification or differentiation, should that be required as the Guilds grow and develop.

Please note that previous experience and work may be used to fulfill requirements, at the Council or Mentor's discretion. Those requirements listed at each stage assume someone has little prior knowledge, as the system is designed to allow people of all experience levels to learn and develop.

Artificers

• Approved by Journeyman's Mentor (if applicable)
• A Journeyman or Guild Mentor has agreed to oversee their development as a vassal.
• They have agreed upon Apprentice goals with their mentor.
• They have made or acquired a Vassal's Belt Flag as specified and approved by the Artificer’s Council.

Seneschals

• Approved by Journeyman's Mentor (if applicable)
• A Journeyman or Guild Mentor has agreed to oversee their development as a vassal.
• They have agreed upon Apprentice goals with their mentor.
• They have made or acquired a Vassal's Belt Flag as specified and approved by the Seneschal’s Council.
