History

One of the duties of apprentices around the forges of any dwarven hold is to pull a shift watching the forges to keep their fires lit when not in use. There is a logic in that keeping the forges going is cheaper, easier, and more efficient than constantly relighting them, especially during times of boom when the forges rest for relatively short periods of time. The forge apprentices have worked with the apprentices in the kitchen to develop a savory flavoring that can be easily modified to be spicier, sweeter, smokier, or more savory. The resulting blend can be used on almost any kind of meat and cooked in many different ways, which lends itself ideal to less than ideal settings for cooking. Such as a pan slapped in a forge when the Forge Masters aren't watching, or out camping while travelling.
