Florentine is a term used to describe the two-weapon fighting style.

History Florentine referred to using a long sword of some type as the primary weapon while wielding a dagger or short sword in the off-hand and is named after the city of its birth, Florence. The dagger was often referred to as a "main gauche". Sometimes the off-hand weapon would have additional tines or notches cut into the blade to assist in fouling or trapping the opponent's blades.
