Duct Tape, also commonly referred to by the name brand Duck Tape is a strong tape available in a variety of colors. It is commonly used to reinforce swords against twisting and tip blow-out by taping it along the flat of the sword. Care must be taken to never use duct tape across the blade of a weapon, as it will make it slappy, and will cause stress points in the foam at the edge of the tape.
Duct tape is also commonly used to cover incidental padding, cross guards, and pommels, where the variety of available colors can make it an attractive option. It does wear with age, however, and will become less attractive over time faster than electrical tape or hockey tape.
Duct tape is also commonly used in shield construction, where slap is not a concern.
