Double core is used to describe sword that is built on a rectanglar 3/4" fiberglass core. These were the core of sword that were once manufactured by Edhellen Armory which have since been discontinued.
They originally recieved their name because they constructed by placing two 1/2" fiberglass rods together to form their desired shape.
It is very hit or miss if a weapon built on these cores will pass a Category:Weapons Check. Due to their core, these weapons do not flex on a swing. Unless built with strong consideration of the inherent rigidity of the core material, these can be very unsafe weapons for the novice foamsmith. Special care must be provided in choosing a design and specific foam types when building weapons using this as a core.
