A Child of Ill Omen is simply a creature touched by death, and was not kept by it because of their destiny. Children of Ill Omen are destined to become the guardian's of the innocent but are doomed to be written as the bad guy, not the hero. Death itself will choose them to protect the innocent, so they can keep said innocence. In turn making the "children" do the ugly work required to protect humanity and keep the peace "behind the scenes." Protecting the masses and making the hard choices to do so.
