Geography
The largest, most southeastern island in the chain is Hawai'i, which is the namesake of the state; that island is usually referred to as The Big Island to avoid confusion. The other islands are, ordered from east to west and south to north: Maui, Kaho'olawe, Lāna'i, Moloka'i, O'ahu, Ni'ihau.
Consumer Costs
For various reasons, including transport costs and tourism, prices on the islands are high. When visiting, one should overestimate their island shopping expenses relative to one's regular budget. However, since liquor stores are not state-run, it is possible to buy alcohol more cheaply than on most of the mainland if good sales are found.
