A buckler is a term that commonly refers to smaller shields (minimum 12 inch diameter) that are either strapped to the forearm or held by a single center grip, thus keeping the offhand free to utilize equipment.  Mostly used by [[Archer]]s, [[Florentine]]rs, or [[Polearm]]smen.
