Although not the greatest fighter, Apteryx has very keen senses, and is well aware of everything and everyone on the battle field at any time. Also well aware of himself he attempts to compensate for his lack of prowess in direct combat by using his advanced senses and extreme speed to pick his engagements very carefully, and often focuses on defensive fighting so as not to get hit.
He is however still just a young inexperienced hatchling, and has a lot of training to do before he claims a place among his Sky Ruler forefathers.
