Lore

  • A common aspect of Silverhelm writing is that often real world events are taken and written into lore as 'in game' living lore. What is presented here is but a small fragment of the lore created, tended to, and shared amongst silverhelms. Please note that although in lore referenced as 'corrupt' or 'evil' some 'Arahat' are represented by real world people that we do not hold any ill will towards. This lore is purely the work of fiction.

Creation

Everything started in complete darkness, but in that darkness was born the world egg. It was born of time and necessity. Then the great serpent coiled around the egg. The egg was representative of the order in the universe, as the serpent was representative of chaos. The egg burst open and from it was born the universe. Ion became the physical representation of order in this new place, as well as the one whom created life and the planets, stars and suns. His domain became all that was physical. He went from place to place in this universe, creating simpler and lesser forms of life, but eventually grew bored with this simple creation and sought to create life similar to his own.

Creators

From this urge Ion willed into being the Creators. The firstborn of his new children saw the likes of Gaia, Uranus, Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, Atum, Neith, Ptah, Enki, Izanagi, Borr, and Quetzalcoatl. These original Creators learned from Ion the secrets of pure creation. These new beings used what they learned from Ion to move forward and create more like themselves, other “gods”. The Creators with the help of Ion made a great civilization, and seeing that it was good, grew to prosperity. Ion saw his creations thriving and decided to take leave back to the darkness to shed more light through the universe. The Creators were saddened by his departure, but knowing the nature of Ion they understood that he must move on to shed his light on the universe.

The Creation of the First Silverhelms

In the absence of Ion, Gaia became the leader of both her race and planet. The Creators expanded, created, prospered, and flourished for millennia. Yet they destroyed their planet in their use and misuse over that time. In an effort to save their planet they devised a plan to travel the stars like their progenitor so they could find a planet rich with minerals and resources to repair their planet. With the plan in place the Creators designed a workforce to assist them in their task. Thus the first of the Silverhelms were born, the Terrae. The Terrae were thus named for their ability to bond with and influence any land they occupied. Together with the Creators the Terrae made ships, tools, vehicles for exploration and self defense. New Creators were also made to ease the trials of unfamiliar territory, Creators of tactics, battle, and rage.

Earth, Humans

They set out with all that they had made, and the Creators and the Terrae came across the planet now known as Earth. They did not land on this planet, which was covered with mostly violent and unintelligent lizards and mammals. They elected to purge the planet of the unnecessary life by sending a single meteor to correct the mistakes nature had made. Once the time had passed for the planet to once again become habitable they landed their ships and began the process of harvesting the precious minerals. The Creators and Silverhelms found the work to be laborious and inefficient so they created a workforce to do the work in their place. These new workers were the first of the Humans, made from materials both from Earth and from the Creators themselves. Many generations of this workforce came and went as the collection of resources became streamlined after many trials and tribulations.

The Flood, The Humans

Centuries passed and the Creators finally amassed the resources they believed sufficient to repair their home planet to its natural state. With these provisions acquired they had no further need for humans. The Creators chose to return them to the earth naturally so they sent a great flood unto the land. However, there was one Creator, the one whom had taken from himself to make these humans feel pity for them. Enki, this Creator saw the true potential in this young race and chose to try and save them from their fate. So Enki appeared to a human who was worthy and capable of the task before him. Enki commanded this young human to create a ship to save himself from the coming deluge. This young human built the ship he was commanded to, and instead of taking refuge alone he brought along his companions and some minor livestock. The flood came and went and obliterated the land and a majority of the mortals of the planet who lived upon it. The Creators and Silverhelms found out about these human’s survival and instead of growing angry they instead felt surprise. They were impressed with the will to survive that this young Human had had. That Human was rewarded by the Creators by ascending to join their ranks and be seen as an equal to them. With their newfound love of the Humans, the Gods and Silverhelms taught mankind the ways of civilized life. They showed them architecture, metallurgy, agriculture, and the arts.

The Fall

A century passed and everything was good between mankind and the Creators for a time. Humanity took the lessons that the Creators and Silverhelms had granted them and used them for their own selfish gains. They used metallurgy for wars and needless killing, agriculture for hoarding and manipulating others, architecture to imprison and subjugate each other, and the arts were used to catalog and scare others with these stories of corruption and bastardization of the teachings they had learned. Seeing the corruption taking hold over the land a single Silverhelm felt malcontent in his soul and grew to despise the humans. This Silverhelm was known as Tenebris. Tenebris made a plea to the gods to destroy the Humans as they had originally intended, since the Humans had not used the knowledge given to them with wisdom. The Creators did not agree with Tenebris, knowing that for each of the corrupt Humans there were still some using the knowledge granted to them for good. Tenebris grew angry at the Creator's sentiment and instead of asking them, he commanded the Creators to kill the Humans. That is when the Creators issued a decree that all Silverhelms must bow their heads to humanity to profess their loyalty to Mankind and swear an oath to the Humans to protect and lead them. The Silverhelms did as they were told, each and every one laid their head to the ground in respect to the humans. All but one, Tenebris. Tenebris denounced the Creators, and their love for the humans. He swore an oath to rid the land of the humans himself. As Tenebris left, a host of others fell with him. All of whom whose souls had grown just as cold and broken in their souls as Tenebris'. They took upon themselves the name of Arahat, claiming they were enlightened more so than the uncorrupt Silverhelms who bowed.

The War

Having left the creators and their brothers, the Arahat and abominations stole a great number of vehicles and weapons, which they used to wage war on the human world. Of the original host of Silver Helms, two in every three fell and followed Tenebris As their war ravaged the land, many villages, towns, and cities fell to the malice inflicted upon them by the fallen. Although the creators still had themselves and a considerable number of silverhelms they still found themselves outnumbered by the host of abominations. Realizing this the creators employed their finest artisans to forge a great and terrible caste of new Silverhelm. Imperious, the creator that embodied justice took it upon himself to create the essence of these Silverhelms made for war, and poured all of himself into the foundation of their beings. He expended himself fully in this act, and with it the first legion made for war was founded. The first of that legion was called Kael, Prime amongst his legion. He was employed as a test to see if this new breed of Silver Helm could fulfill the purpose laid forth by Imperious. The Ifrit, as this caste is now known, performed beyond its progenitors expectations.

The House of God

After months of non stop brutality and unending conflict it came time for one final battle to decide the fate of all involved. Upon the ancient fields of Babylon, overlooked by the tower of Etemenanki both armies amassed to face off against each other amidst a tempest only war of gods could stir. The two sides met like thunder rolling across mountains of steel. Weapons of unceasing destruction met and laid waste to both sides equally, only enthralling and heightening the cacophony of the stormhead. As the heavens cracked open, immolated by the chariots of the gods the Ifrit began to gain ground a shred through the abominations lines. The battle raged on for a great time and spread across the landscape until spilling into the great tower. It was within this tower that this conflict finally came to a head, when the leaders of the two great armies came into single combat with one another. Kael and Tenebris met with a fury that few even amongst the creators could muster. These two generals locked in combat fought, gaining and loosing ground, rising in the tower as they did so, cleaving great glancing blows across each other and destroying segments of the tower walls as they did so. As they reached the peak of this tower a great bolt of fire from the sky did destroy the roof of this tower, shaking the very earth and casting down debris to the onlookers and warriors below. The fight continued for a time, before Tenebris took an initiative and sank a sneaky savage blow into the side of Kael, a mortal blow to most Silverhelms. Kael saw the malice and hatred in Tenebris’s eyes he knew the darkness inside his former brother. Kael took this moment to grasp at the lower arms of Tenebris and grappled him, pulling both Tenebris closer, and sinking the dagger further into his body. Kael tore off two of the arms of Tenebris, making him crooked and a pale reflection of the being he hated so. They fel to the ground during the moments after this struggle, and it came to be that Tenebris laid on the ground, head and shoulders handing over the edge of the tower with Kael poised above, holding Tenebris’s head and forcing him to look down on the bodies of warriors, both noble and savage that littered the fields below. Kael forced him to look at and understand what he had made his brothers and sisters become, and what he had wrought in this world. Tenebris’s face recoiled in pain and agony before being swiftly cut off by Kael, a memento of the horrors it created. As this happened the great tower began to crumble, and Kael was thrown off, barely making a landing safely. Tenebris was presumed dead, being defaced and dismembered.

Reconstruction & The birth of the Venators

After the conclusion of the great war the reconstruction of the earth had begun to reinstate order and tranquility to the lands. The creators and silverhelms remaining set to this task to reconstitute what so many of their former brothers and sisters had corrupt and forsook. Knowing that a considerable number of abominations had survived and fled to the realms of men. The creators took it upon themselves to create one further caste of silverhelms to hunt down these fallen creatures so that they may no longer plague the planet with their filth and defilement. This caste of Silver Helms are known as the Venators, created with the same darkness that caused corruption in the abominations. They are made this way so they may seek out and destroy this corruption better than any other. This Caste was unique in the fact that they are not made in legions, or sets as the Silver Helms before them, but each one is made unique to fulfill a purpose or task in this growing cold war before the Helms and their Creators. The Venators after being made call the first great hunt and descent unto the world to destroy the darkness they were made to seek. The Tarrae begin to heal and restore the lands and their people. The Ifrit take on the task of becoming Guardians and teachers, with some also accepting the call of the great hunt. The Creators seeing their children handling this world as required take this time to heed the call to return to their ancestral home in the stars, back to the world in dire need of their help. As a parting gift to their children they pass down two divine relics, great hands of creation, infused with the very power of the creators themselves. They entrusted these devices to the guardians, the Ifrit as they knew the gauntlets would be safe there for those which destroy may also protect.

The Time Betwixt

As the creators left and the silverhelms were left to shepherd humanity, a great time passes and eventually after the healing of the great war was complete the humans came to know peace. After tending to the humans and their world for so long they came to find that the humans came to rule themselves. Seeing that the humans had come into their own right the Silver Helms took it upon themselves to make their own nations, hidden away from the prying eyes of lesser races. Those that did not join in these great places of power took this time to walk amongst humanity, passing from place to place for personal or spiritual growth. Some continued the call of the hunt, and others took time to reflect and create, or guide mortals in other ways. It was as near a time of peace as the Silverhelms had experienced in decades. As the time passed the Silver Helm legends of old passed away with those few humans that remembered them and they fell into obscurity. Those that still walked amongst humans became legends in their own right, known as gods, or Jinn, earthbound spirits, ghosts. Their names became many.

Truth and Reconciliation

After the passing of time and humans starting a culture and recording of time it passed into the first major age of humanity. The first Tarrae was stricken with a vision, as horrible as it would be true. A vision of the destruction of the creators home planet, and of Tenebris, alive and sitting atop a mountain of broken shells, Silver Helms peeled faces littering the ground around and under him. Finally he saw himself enveloped in darkness and taken. As he awoke from this vision he felt the weight of eons fall upon him, and he forgot himself as he was and became something new. A task was set upon him, and he became The Prophet. He knew he must re-amass his siblings once again, as the great shadow would soon start to coil like a serpent ready to strike. He first went to Kael Prime, and in joining started a host of like minded helms to take up arms against the coming darkness.

The Emergence of the Ninth and the Night of the Sun

This group of eight Silver Helms roams the lands, bringing justice and swift death to foes. Their righteousness and skill without match, their honor without equal. As they rekindle the goodness in those around them the Prophet is stricken with another vision, that of a warrior clad in golden light. A completion to the circle, a lifting of the veil. A ninth member of the holy host. This vision passed beyond his eyes slowly, taking no age or time from the Prophet as he had settled into his most auspicious of roles. He knew that this Silver Helm must be found and taken into the great fold. After a long search the ninth was finally revealed to the Prophet and Kael. The truth of the ninth was known to be the great Ifrit known as Ra. He had long held peace and dominion of the area the humans called Egypt. As he entered the fold he was met by a stark few with open arms. They debuted his place in the host and his fulfillment of the prophecy for some unknown reason. Despite these transgressions, Kael and The Prophet assured his place was amongst them. With this the circle was complete. This virtrol within the chosen cohort took root in some of the Silver Helms and came to a head after Kael and Ra had used the Gauntlets of Creation to resurrect a Slain priestess who sacrificed her life to defend a relic known as a Sunspear from falling into abomination hands. In doing so they created the fourth and final caste of Silver Helms, the Equis, or Ascended. This caused the malcontent in the hearts of some of the host to fester and spread within their mind like a sickness. The fellowship of the nine gathered as one to discuss the fate of this new life that had been wrought. They met their brothers and sisters with open arms, but only received hatred and vitriol. Ra, usually calm and reserved in his demeanor, spoke out against these blasphemers and naysayers and with his rage and fury brought light to the field they met in, even at the height of nightfall. Ra’s words silenced the naysayers, but brought only further division to the group as the roots of contempt came to wrap around the very essence of these Silverhelms.

Castes

  • There are four main castes to the Silverhelms. They are listed in the order they were created:

  • The first of us are those of the earth and it's elements, the Terrae. They are builders, mages, wise men, and keepers of lore. They were made for construction, healing, and magic. They were made by The Creators from the elements of the planets they were forged on, so they tend to have a deeper connection to those elements.

  • The next caste is the war caste, the Ifrit. This caste of Silverhelm was made during the great war as foot soldiers. They are tactical and dominating minds and bodies. War and combat is second nature to this caste. They have been forged in the fires of war, and so they show it during combat with their prowess.

  • The third caste of Silverhelm are the Venators. They are made with part of the darkness and corruption within them so they may freely seek out that same corruption to destroy it. They are masters of stealth, poison, and assassination. They tend to work alone and are always hunting a target. They tend to be less righteous than the other castes, having that tinge of darkness within changes how one acts.

  • The fourth and final caste of Silverhelm are the Equis, also known as Ascended. They were once normal people, or humanoids that have been taken and considered worthy or equal to Silverhelms. So with an ancient ritual and the blessing of a Silverhelm they have been ascended to our ranks. There are no typical properties for how an ascended Silverhelm acts or fights, since they are all unique cases. They tend to take on parts of the Silverhelm that ascended them.
