About: Sigurd has a way with names and lore and has come to know many more people than even more experienced fighters. Sigurd is always willing to learn how to better his combat and arsenal. He is a loyal warrior. Like any good Norseman (and ogre apparently), Sigurd ignores the cold.

I'm pretty sure if you complete the "jump a glaive" ceremony, it means you're married, right?

Sigurd first learned the sport of Bel in Tir Asleen. Originally he was entirely devoted to the red sword but eventually found love for sword and board (which he is much better at). He was elected Marshal (secretary) in the Spring of 2013. That fall, first Ursyne then Gorlock convinced Sigurd of his ogre-ness. Shortly after Gorlock offered a sponsorship into Horde. Finally after Spring Wars 2014 he accepted and completed his Prana'kai of Awakening at Oktoberfest 2014. His challenges included wrestling Ursyne and defeating the pair of Gorlock and Inanna. During that final fight Sigurd kicked Gorlock's boot and broke a toe. The same day he fought a exceptionally long day of heralded battles with Alachi to complete his Prana'kai of Blood. In the coming weeks he recruited Bones - a golbyn - as his feral.

Sigurd decided not to run for reelection in spring 2015 preferring that one of the able bodied new folk take his place. Bones, his then feral, succeeded him as marshal.

In the next year Sigurd focused greatly on lore and worked with Ghanima to kindle a ogre cultural revitalization. At Oktoberfest 2015 Sigurd underwent the shaman rites (the first structured rites for his species) organized Ghanima. Afterward he took on the title of Shaman of Utezni and continues to expand ogre lore and culture.

As shaman, he devised and implemented chieftain trials and named Gorlock chieftain of the Karanduawn, the first official ogre chieftain.

Ribbs, tribemate of Bones, was Sigurd's second feral.

Lore

Ancestry, Birth, Trollslaying

Sigurd was son of Amund Shatter-hip who served King Solvenn of Ormerdal and lived in the hall of his father's father, Vikar Tree-feller the slayer of Girkad Gleaming-eye. His mother was the ogress Drala, daughter of Svala, a Shaman of Ugangi whose mate was Rodbrand last chieftain of the Tur Tribe. Drala was driven by the lack of suitors to seek a human mate. Amund found Drala while hunting elk with his kin in the mountains. By winter's end she was pregnant and fled the humans. Two years later she gave birth to a male of exceptional size, even for an rung, and named him Svar. Resources were scarce for the tribe, and soon the strain proved too much for Rodbrand's stiff leadership. The tribe deserted him and Drala was forced to surrender her child to his human father. Amund raised the child among his family calling him Sigurd.

Sigurd was trained in the families' trade but was always restless with desire to travel abroad. There was another boy from a nearby farm, Visund son of Alrek, who was his closest friend. Sigurd quickly grew to be larger and stronger than all men gaining the attention of King Solvenn. The King sent his kinsman, Dag Ormseeker, to Amund's farm to assess the boy's worth. Dag was a rune-wise wizard of far spread fame. He quickly recognized Sigurd's talents and convinced his cousin the king to foster the boy. From that day on Sigurd was tutored by Dag.

After a hard winter the farms of Ormerdal were raided - livestock devoured, dwellings burned, and people slain. The king dispatched soldiers to hunt down those responsible but none returned. Dag came to the conclusion that the kingdom was besieged by a troll and set out with Sigurd to find the beast. Sigurd enlisted the aid of his long time friend Visund who had grown into a bull of a man. Together the party tracked the troll to a skin hut deep within the forests where Sigurd's family had long plied its trade. The troll rose up to face them. It was massive, strong of limb, ugly of face with a rack of curling horns like a ram, and wielded a sword the height of a man single-handedly. Sigurd lead the attack with his long-hafted axe, but the troll shattered it with his magic sword. With a crack, a bolt of fire struck the troll and sent the sword flying from its hand. Visund charged and bodily tackled the unarmed beast, a saga worthy feat. Sigurd fetched the outcast sword and drove it through the troll's stomach, slaying him where he lay.

That winter Sigurd built himself a fine dragonship. In the spring he asked his foster father for a crew of men and permission to raid abroad. Solvenn agreed giving him forty men and trade goods for his journey. Visund and Dag both joined him in this journey.
