Setup

Captains may be assigned to choose teams with equal numbers of people. Otherwise, teams may be assigned in a way that balances skill levels between teams. Determine who the royalty of each team is before fighting begins. You may give the royalty special garb or equipment.

Rules

In a standard game of Kill the Monarch, each team has one member designated as their monarch. Teams must be informed of who the monarchs are. As soon as a monarch dies, their teammates die as well, and the team loses. The team of the last living monarch wins.

Lineage Monarchy

When a team loses, it must choose a new monarch. If all members have been monarchs, the team loses overall and may have to sit out further fights while remaining teams compete. Equal numbers of combatants on each team are best for these rules.

Mafia Monarchy

The identity of the monarch on each team is not revealed to other teams. Each team can try to deduce the monarchs' identities and target them, or attack opponents indiscriminately until they kill the monarch.

Divine Monarchy

The attacks of non-royalty deal no damage to monarchs and their equipment. Only the monarchs can damage each other.

Oligarchy

Each team has multiple royals, called oligarchs. Once all oligarchs on a team have died, their teammates die as well. Recommended players per team is 5+.

Rogue Regicide

When a team's royalty dies, their teammates do not die but the team is disbanded for the rest of the battle. The teamless combatants can continue fighting, though the team of the last living royalty still wins.
