Lore: Kaladin was born to a minor family on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Lightsworn on the continent of Solaria on the planet Veris. His father helped the locals develop useful fields in a valley that is commonly flooded in the spring. He constructed a watch tower at the entrance to the valley that attracted the ire of the seasonal storms, called the Lighting Tower. Upon the age of twelve, Kaladin's uncle overthrew his father to rule the flooded lowlands called the Periphery, claiming that Kaladin's father was a traitor to the nation. In the fighting, Kaladin was sent away, to escape using a lesser known path down the rocky cliffs the Lightning Tower sat upon. Traveling first to a small kingdom hidden in the west, Kaladin hid for a time, until the three warlords that held the kingdom together fell. He then traveled west and learned from pirates and lords on the coast the arts of leadership and comradery. After a time, he traveled back east, this time headed south of home. Meeting old allies from the fallen kingdom of Knightfall, he gathers his forces, preparing to strike back at his traitor uncle and those that would deny his birthright as Lord of Storms.
