Lore
All her life Phyrra had been taught the history of her race. She grew to love the stories and longed to know everything about them. The other races that were involved, the strategies used in battle, the many interpretations of old goblyn history. She knew each story by heart from a young age. Eventually, Phyrra grew tired of hearing the same tales over and over. She longed for something new. Over time, she began to realize something. The other races—perhaps even other goblyns—were still out there. Above ground. Outside of the caves that had kept her tribe safe. She’d heard the stories from the hunting parties that went out from time to time; the world outside was as active as ever. So Phyrra made a decision. She was going to venture outside of the Great City of Pandemonium and learn all there was to know about the outside world, then return to share the new stories with the rest of her tribe.

The first thing Phyrra remembers about leaving the mountain is that it was very, very bright. (Seriously, how you live here? Dee lightball be so annoying!) The sun shining overhead dazzled her and left her blind for some time. Even after her eyes had adjusted, it still glared harshly in her vison, making it difficult to see where she should be walking toward. She knew she was looking for a village, an encampment, anything inhabited by the creatures of the world outside the caves. That’s where she would find the information she was looking for. (‘an maybe some food…)

It wasn’t too long after leaving Pandemonium that Phyrra encountered her first problem. The creatures above ground were far more aggressive than the ones under the mountain. She had been taught how to fight, but not in such strange conditions. One day, as she rested while waiting for the familiar dark of the night, she was attacked by a group of beasts, the likes of which she had never seen before. As she tried to stand and fight, she found her movements slowed. The undergrowth around her kept grabbing at her feet, determined to trip her up. The sun was too bright, and the unfamiliar sounds of the forest around her were overwhelming. She cried out in anger at the world, in a rage that she had never truly felt in the security of Pandemonium.

It was at that moment that a blur of color fell upon the beasts around her, slaughtering them all with ruthless efficiency. When the flurry of combat had settled, the strangest goblyn Phyrra had ever seen stood before her. They were tall—unusually so—and had very pale green skin. They turned with no more than a glance at Phyrra, sheathed their twin blades, and started picking up the beasts they had just killed.

“Why you save me, goblyn?” Phyrra asked.

“Didn’t save you. Killed them.”

It took only the time of that brief exchange for Phyrra to notice something interesting about the other goblyn. Emblazoned proudly on their clothing was the symbol of the mighty rage god Skrybitt. Pieces clicked into place in Phyrra’s mind. The fighting ability, the symbol, even the timing of their appearance being so close to such a feeling of immense rage…

“You be Khadine.” Phyrra stated. The other goblyn merely nodded as they retrieved the last of the beasts they had killed and began to walk away. (Sheesh, no need to be rood...)

“Wait!” Phyrra called after them. They paused but did not turn back. “How you do that? Fight out here?” The Khadine did not answer, and instead started walking again. Angered, Phyrra jumped up and leapt in front of them, causing them to stop once more.

“Teach me.” The Khadine merely snorted and pushed past her. (Rood!) Phyrra drew her sword and ran in front of them again. The rage she had felt toward the world was returning, directed purely at this Khadine. “Teach me!” She snarled, pointing her weapon at them. A flash of recognition crossed their face for the briefest moment. Perhaps they recognized the rage in her eyes, or perhaps they sensed that she would not back down. With a brief nod, the Khadine gestured to their side and continued walking.

“Fine. Follow me.”

Phyrra spent many moons alongside the mysterious Khadine. They were very reserved, and did not talk much, even in their frequent training sessions. Phyrra learned how to fight in the conditions of the world outside the mountain, as well as how to hunt and forage for resources in the unfamiliar terrain. (Seriously, dis place be weird.)

One day, as Phyrra awoke, she realized that the Khadine was just… gone. All of their things had vanished with them, seemingly replaced by a single blood-red feather laying where the Khadine had once been. From what the Khdaine had taught her about the creatures of the above-ground, Phyrra guessed that it was a falcon feather. She could recall seeing the Khadine wearing a sash that bore the symbol of a red falcon, and had even asked about it in the past, but they had never explained what it meant. She picked up the feather and glanced about, looking for any sign of what may have happened. There was nothing. No tracks marred the ground around the camp the two of them had set the night before, no dent in the grass remained from where the Khadine had rested. It was as if they had never existed, as though they were nothing more than a mirage. Perhaps they were. Perhaps this quiet Khadine was nothing more than a figment of Phyrra’s imagination. Perhaps they were a vision sent by some greater power to guide her. Phyrra doesn’t know. She lives for the day that she will understand who or what that Khadine truly was. For the day that she may have the chance to meet them again—even for a moment. To know why they appeared when they did. To know their story.

——

For now, her goal remains the same as when she set out from Pandemonium: to learn everything about this strange world so that she may one day return home with all the knowledge she gained. To strengthen her tribe with that knowledge so that they may continue to flourish. If you ever come across Phyrra, know that she is more than happy to listen to your tales, no matter how simple or grand they may be.

And don’t worry, she may be a goblyn, but so long as you still have stories to tell, she’ll let you live. (For now…)

About
The Reapers are a national unit with members in the realms of Paranor, Ebonhold, Shannara, Shadowdale, and Andor. The Reapers are composed of fighters that are extremly dedicated to the sport. They do not want any one who is just out to play, they want people who are out to learn multiple aspects of fighting. Kage, Jeuls and a few other members in Paranor were absoultly tired of people just wanting to mess around and not get serious about the sport or the things that it had to offer.

Entrance into the unit is by invitation only. Just simply ask one of the Elites if you can get an invitation and we will watch you and get to know you then receive a notice either way. This is because the Elites want the members of the unit to know that the unit should be one of good friends, out to have fun and kick butt, but be like a second family. And most importantly we want members that we know want to be there. For more information about recruitment please talk with one of our members.

On the lighter side of the Reapers they enable the use of what they like to call the machine. It normally works in taking down better veteran fighters.

History
In early Febuary of 2004 a small group gathered in the basement of Kage's house to come up with ideas for a new unit. The ideas came out simple in the begining, unit would have four founding members, be open to all people who want to join, and be tactical based unit fighting. It was decided in the same setting of another thing that was made special for the founding members, who were as follows, Kage, Jaliko, Levonathan, and Skaara. The titles of the four horsemen were to be given to each. Kage became the horseman death, Jaliko became the horseman war, Levonathan became the horseman famine, and Skaara became the horseman pestilance.

The idea of the four horsemen died off shortly after the first practice that was held at Tauphaus Park in early March of that year. The unit was small and was still having trouble getting up off of the ground. There was almost no growth for the unit save for one or two people who just wanted to be non-combatants. More members quit the already small unit because of rains that began in late April and early May. That was the most crushing blow the Reapers had recieved in their short and early life.

After the rains subsided the unit was so small it was basically made up of three main fighters, Kage, Jaliko, and Ame. Finally Kage's prayers were answered in early June when a new fighter came out who turnned the unit upside down. This new fighter by the name of Jeuls gave Kage many ideas about how to make the unit better. Shortly after that Kage invited the man to join the Reapers to help improve the unit altogether. Later it was made known to Kage that Jeuls had recruitment attempts made by the Greater Horn of Ebonhold, but because of the way that they acted and went about it Jeuls decided to go ahead and join the Reapers instead.

Shortly after Jeuls officially joined the unit Jaliko decided that it was time for retirement so he quit sword fighting and went on his own way. Determined to learn what Jeuls knew about fighting Kage became an Apprentice to Jeuls and immediately began training to become an Elite. At this time Levonathan and Alistar decieded that the Reapers may be the direction that they wanted to go with sword fighting. Levonathan accepted the invitation much faster than Alistar who took his time and looked around at the other units, but against all odds decided to make his home with the Reapers.

The Reapers grew well over the winter of 2004, because both Kage and Alistar where made Elites in December. With a stroke of luck the unit was able to find a place to fight during the winter. This brought Skaara back to the ranks plus three new members, sadly for two of the new people Belegarth was not their peice of cake and the Reapers realized they had been to hasty in inviting them into the unit. One at the moment is on a mission and is due to return sometime next year where he will hopefully pick up where he left off.

However not all things last forever. The Reapers suffered a massive rift over egos and stupidity in late 07. Jeuls and about half the unit left to go a different direction. And the list of dead members started. Even with the loss though the unit remained and the next year continued to grow and rebuild. Adding Hendell and Katsu to the unit and then later more. This lasted until Kage the leader at the time was squired and left the unit to pursue the path of knighthood. A few members felt abandoned after the fact and by April 2010 tempers had reached the boiling point. Another split dealt a blow to the unit, again cutting it in half.

With the unit in half and with Morholt as their leader after Kage. The Reapers spent the next year replentishing the ranks and improving the way that the Reapers were viewed. At Chaos Wars XV Morholt raised Hendell to the title of Elite and transfered leadership of the unit to him. The Reapers then inducted there first non-Idahoan into the Reapers at CW XV with the induction of Ark from Andor. Things do have a weird way of coming back around though. Hendell left to join BoF. Kage has now been separated from the sport. In 2019, with encouragement and help from Nick (Theron), Morholt made the decision to resurrect the unit. As we get geared up for the 2022 season, we have a strong core and are starting to grow again. Updated 1-23-22

Steps Of Advancement
Reaper

Reaper is when a fighter first starts out in the unit. In this step the fighter must gain the basic knowledge of fighing using Tarragon in this sport and unit. Reapers can search the unit for an that would be willing to teach them everything they know from the moment they are made a Reaper. If a Reaper is not chosen by a Elite he may petition his name in for a number of Elites to choose from. A Reaper may also choose not to further advance in the unit if they do not want to.

Reaper to Aprentice

In this step a Reaper needs to impress a Elite enough that he takes the Reaper on to become a Aprentice undernieth him. Our Elite do NOT use their Aprentices as BEER BITCHES. When a Elite choses a Reaper to become a Aprentice there is a ceremony and feast in honor of the Reaper and Elite.

Aprentice

In this step of a fighters advancement they take an oath to their Elite promising to learn what their Elite has to show them. Elites can have as many Aprentices as they would like to teach at one time. Elites will Usually only take a person as a Aprentices they know they can teach and get along with.

Aprentice to Elite

Becoming an Elite comes from hard work and dedication to the unit and sport. A Elite chooses the Aprentices with out the consent of the other Elites. This gives the Elite the power to cut an unworthy Aprentices loose from their teaching. If a Elite cannot get along with a Aprentices under him he has the ablity to trade Aprentices with another Elite rather than cut them loose completely. When a Elite decides that a Aprentices is ready to move up one he will bring the subject up with the other Elites. This is the only time that a Elite has to have a majority of the other Elites consent to do something.

Special Positions
There are three top postions held in the Reapers.

Leader

This position is exactlly what it says. This person can bring Reapers in so that they can learn to fight and move up in rank.

War Lord

The War Lord postion is the peron who is in charge of battle tatics. This person gives commands to the unit during battles.

Money Lender

This person is the finance person in the unit. They take care of bank statements and funds for weapons and winter fighting faclities.

(For now…)
All her life Phyrra had been taught the history of her race.

For the day that she may have the chance to meet them again—even for a moment. To know why they appeared when they did. To know their story.

Since that day, Phyrra has come across a few other creatures bearing a sash marked with a red falcon. She actively searches for them, hoping that one of them may know something about who or what the Khadine was and where they might be. She has discovered several of them, but each time she has they have vanished before giving any answers, usually leaving behind a feather like the one she found after the Khadine disappeared, like a trail of breadcrumbs. She hopes to someday get the information she wants—even if she has to track down and beat the answers out of every last one of them. (Dey be very, very strong. It not easy to find em, even harder to get em to talk! …dey be good to learn fightin from tho, even if most not be goblynz.)

---

Some time into her search for the Khadine, Phyrra stumbled upon an odd collection of many different races, all draped in the same deep purple and black. They were on some mission to attack a human settlement. Phyrra was curious as to how this small band of creatures would handle the guard that had been set around the human village. So, she followed along, stealthily trailing behind the group.

When they reached the settlement, this group of black and purple startled Phyrra with their efficiency in combat. They were able to infiltrate the settlement and headed straight for one of the internal buildings. In her focus on their movements, Phyrra did not realize that she had strayed too far from cover. The humans saw her and, likely assuming she was a part of the invading force, attacked her. She fought back and was able to hold her own against the weakened forces of the guard. In her haze of battle rage, she did not realize that the purple group had returned from their venture into the village, and she nearly attacked one of them as they approached. The draconic individual (dey be kinda dragony… wings ‘an scales, but shaped like a pinkie) made it clear that they were no threat, and invited Phyrra to leave with the group. Intrigued by the story that must have been attached to such an odd group, she agreed to go with them.

As night started to fall, the group began to make camp. Phyrra stayed along the edges of the space, wanting to stay nearby but not wanting to be too trusting of the strangers. Eventually, the draconic one gestured for her to come closer to the fire they had built and began to tell their tale.

It turned out that this group was one of warriors calling themselves “The Reapers” which meant something close to “bringers of death”. They had been after the human settlement to rescue one of their own who had been captured and nearly killed by the humans.

“You showed a lot of strength when you were fighting off the guards,” the apparent leader of the group said as they sat down next to the draconic one, “but alone, you won’t survive long. There are too many humans around here who kill monsters on sight. You need others to stand with you. If you’d like, you could join us.” (Ya right, I be goblyn, no need anyone else. …but dey knows lots that I don’t.)

Phyrra was originally hurt by this. Her goblyn instinct and natural pride told her to refuse the offer. But she thought back to the time so long ago, when the mysterious Khadine had stopped creatures from killing her. (Tho dey claimed it not to save me.) She understood what these Reapers meant. She was strong on her own, but she would stand stronger with others. She knew that in order to learn and return to her tribe, she needed to survive. So, she agreed to their proposal and donned the black and purple. She continues to fight with and learn from these Reapers, and, through many trials and tribulations, has grown to consider them as her own little tribe away from her tribe.

For now, her goal remains the same as when she set out from Pandemonium: to learn everything about this strange world so that she may one day return home with all the knowledge she gained. To strengthen her tribe with that knowledge so that they may continue to flourish.

If you ever come across Phyrra, know that she is more than happy to listen to your tales, no matter how simple or grand they may be.

And don’t worry, she may be a goblyn, but so long as you still have stories to tell, she’ll let you live. (For now…)
It turned out that this group was one of warriors calling themselves “The Reapers” which meant something close to “bringers of death”.

If you ever come across Phyrra, know that she is more than happy to listen to your tales, no matter how simple or grand they may be.

And don’t worry, she may be a goblyn, but so long as you still have stories to tell, she’ll let you live. (For now…)
All her life Phyrra had been taught the history of her race.

She had seen the Khadine wearing a sash that bore the symbol of a red falcon, but they had never explained what it meant. She picked it up and glanced about, looking for any sign of what may have happened.

She hopes to someday get the information she wants—even if she has to track down and beat the answers out of every last one of what she has come to call “the red birds”.

She picked it up and glanced about, looking for any other sign of what may have happened.

She picked it up and glanced about, looking for any other sign of what may have happened.

==About==
The Reapers are a national unit with members in the realms of Paranor, Ebonhold, Shannara, Shadowdale, and Andor.
