ISO mat, commonly known as military pad, is a typically olive drab foam sometimes used in weapon construction. Iso mat takes DAP well, and is significantly tougher and more tear-resistant than Blue Camp Pad, which makes it a choice material for box layers. Because it is thinner than normal blue foam, however, doing so will result in a lower-profile weapon. Many other possible foamsmithing applications exist for this versatile foam.

Iso mat can typically be found in military surplus stores. Fleet Farm has been known to carrry them in their military surplus section as well.

Because they are usually sold to the public used, iso mats sometimes have nicks or tears which may affect the integrity of your weapons, so be careful when selecting one.
